A Spring Guide to the Monadnock Region

The sign to the in sits left of a blooming azalea bush. The inn can be seen further away, behind the bush.
We hope to see you soon!

The Monadnock Region provides plenty of opportunities to take advantage of each season. In winter there is skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, holiday shopping and more. Fall offers harvest festivals, apple picking, and local in-season produce for every dinner table. Summer of course creates the perfect backdrop for weddings and events, as well as berry picking, hiking and activities out on the water. Many may think of spring to be a much quieter time, and that’s not incorrect. But it is also the perfect time to enjoy taking advantage of that quiet. Below are a few ideas for your springtime visit to the area to make the most of the season!

For some low-impact hiking with a view of a lovely brook through much of the trail, head over to Casalis State Forest.

Plan your first hike of the season – Despite the still chilly weather, spring is a great time to hit the trails. Peterborough itself has several hiking spots all close to the inn, such as Miller State Park, Edward MacDowell Dam, Casalis State Forest, and more. Travel just a little further out and hike picturesque Mount Monadnock! Take your hiking trip on Grand Monadnock to the next level in May with our Hike the Mountain Package.

Enjoy a taste of the area – check out one of the many sugar shacks in the region for a sweet addition to your visit. After you satisfy your sweet tooth, the plethora of dining the area has to offer is bound to have exactly what you’re craving.
