The air is chilly, the leaves are gone, and holiday decorations have sprung up all about the place. December is almost here, and with it comes all that we expect this time of year; from craft fairs to family gatherings, Christmas lights and shows. So, what’s happening in Peterborough as the holidays approach? We’ve updated our December Activities blog with all the happenings you might find about Peterborough this 2021 season! Take a look below to find out more.
Last year’s Southern New Hampshire Tour of Lights was such a hit, that it’s coming back again this year! If you’re curious on what to expect with the tour, check out our blog post here from last year to see some houses and keep your eyes on the Peterborough Rec Dept’s Facebook Page to find out dates and more!
The Holiday Trees in Peterborough is a community-wide event where locals can submit their hand-decorated trees to be raffled off. Before the trees go to their new homes, the first weekend in December folks are invited to stop by and see the display. This year it’ll be taking place outside the community center in town, so you can stop on by and see all of the festive trees made by the community and vote on your favorite.
Hosted by the Children & the Arts, MAxT Maker Space, and the Peterborough Town Library, the first weekend of December brings the Hometown Holiday Weekend to Peterborough! Last year’s lantern installation in Putnam Park was a treat for all, and it’ll be returning this year along with First Friday Art Walk, shopping and more. Paired with the Festival of trees, you could easily make a family friendly weekend out of it and stay at the Jack Daniels Inn!
Monadnock Chorus, who brought us Sing Noel in previous years, has two concerts for December lined up: In Terra Pax on December 11th and 12th, and Hope for the Holidays – Music Around the Globe on December 14th and 15th. Both concerts will be at the Peterborough Town House, so be sure not to miss them!
On December 4th at the Park Theatre, you can catch a humor-filled New England comedy-music show by Fred Marple. Locals are familiar with Fred’s skits, and we highly recommend you buy your tickets in advance if you’re interested in his show – they are popular!
With this update to the blog, there’s lots to do this coming December. Why not take in all of it? Plan your weekends in Peterborough by starting with a stay at the Jack Daniels Motor Inn – give us a call or check our availability here! We look forward to seeing you!
