Memorial Day and Thing in the Spring in Peterborough, NH

It’s already starting to feel like the summer months are here in the Monadnock region. After some very chilly days we’ve been living it up with warm, sunny days. It’s definitely put us all in the spirit for summer, and all the fun things that come with the warm months. But the beginning of summer always means a few events here that truly signal the start of the season.

During Memorial Day, you’re sure to find many towns hosting their own parade. The Memorial Day Parade in Peterborough is close to our hearts not only because it is in our own town, but has always been done so well. People gather in the downtown area to watch the parade, while the Conval High School’s marching band perform and veterans of all ages join each other to honor those who have served our country. While May ends with this parade, June begins with an event completely different. Thing in the Spring is an annual music festival in downtown Peterborough where several folk and alternative musicians come to the area to perform. This year it takes place on June 10th and 11th, the second weekend in the month. Many businesses also participate as well, making it a town-wide event. Broke Arts Festival showcases many artisans selling their work at very reasonable prices inside the town hall, while Toadstool Bookstore has live music for all ages throughout the weekend.
