Spending a weekend in Peterborough during the month of March provides unique experiences that we’ve talked about in the blog in years past. March is Maple Month in New Hampshire, which means many of our state’s sugar shacks are firing up the maple sugaring season as the ground begins to thaw. It’s also mud season, so be sure to bring a pair of boots for some mucky fun when you visit.
This month let us take you on a trip through the area, enjoying our Maple and Mud Package:
Starting with a night’s stay at the inn, you’ll find a sampler of local maple syrup from Ben’s Sugar Shack and chocolates from Ava Marie Chocolates. Enjoy delicious treats and settle into your comfortable room, then use the dining dollars for dinner at one of the local participating restaurants.
In the morning after breakfast, enjoy a self-guided tour around the area to several of the different sugar shacks that are open to learn the process of maple sugaring, take tours, snag some treats and more. We can help personalize a trip for you at the front desk with suggestions of sugar shacks and sweet shops on your drive.
Places like Parker’s Maple Barn in Mason, Ben’s Sugar Shack and Connolly Brothers in Temple, Morning Star Maple in Dublin, and more will be open on the weekends to explore as you travel through the region.
If you need to feed that chocolate addiction further, a visit to Ava Marie Chocolates is called for. Or check out the bean to bar chocolates produced in town at Vicuna Chocolate, where you can also try sipping chocolate and cacao tea. You can now also try the latest addition to feed your fancy in Peterborough – Sweet Macaron!
